Universal and Legendary Strike Extension With Imax

The massive screen exhibitor will now carry even more of the studios’ movies

Universal and Legendary are going big, agreeing to a deal that will see the release up to 15 of the studios’ upcoming films in IMAX theaters through 2017.

Already partners with the massive exhibitor, the studios will send a number of highly anticipated films to the oversized screens, including “Dracula Untold” (October 2014), “Seventh Son” (February 2015), “Fast & Furious 7” (April 2015), “Jurassic World” (June 2015), “Everest” (September 2015), “Crimson Peak” (October 2015) and “Warcraft” (March 2016).

“Rich, Greg and IMAX have been important partners for a long time. The IMAX platform has performed over and over again for Legendary, and through this deal we will continue to deliver an unparalleled filmed entertainment experience, as well as showcase the work of our directors in a way that resonates with audiences around the world,” Thomas Tull, Legendary’Chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “We are also pleased that our partners at Universal recognize the value of an IMAX release, and have joined us to formalize this long-standing relationship.”

As of April, there were 840 IMAX screens across the world.
