Universal Cable Promotes Mark Binke to EVP, Production

The executive will be responsible for all aspects of production across the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group

Universal Cable Productions has promoted Mark Binke to executive vice president, production.

Binke, who had been serving as senior vice president, cable & digital production for Universal Television/Cable & Digital Productions, will serve as the key senior executive responsible for production for Universal Cable Productions across the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group, and for third-party networks, co-productions and original digital content.

Binke is also responsible for keeping tabs on domestic and international tax incentive locales, and oversees the management of facilities and vendor deals, as well as guiding contract negotiations with unions.

Universal Cable Productions produces USA Network's "Covert Affairs," Syfy's "Warehouse 13" and "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome," among others. 

"Mark has been an integral and versatile player in the success of our cable and digital productions and is highly regarded for his keen business knowledge and foresight," said George Cheeks,  who has executive oversight of television production operations for Universal Cable Productions, Universal Television and NBC Entertainment. "This well-deserved promotion will allow him to expand his contributions to our growing and vital cable portfolio."

Binke's career includes stints producing and directing for NBC, Fox, ABC, ESPN and MTV.
