Unviersal Pictures has entrusted another female director with the “Pitch Perfect” franchise after Elizabeth Banks dropped out in June.
“It’s like Xmas, 4th of July & my bday all at once, only better!” Sie said in her own tweet.
“Pitch Perfect 2” boasts the highest-grossing movie musical opening of all time, and its follow-up will be produced by series fixture Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment. Banks will stay on to produce with husband Max Handelman.
“Pitch Perfect 2” has grossed more than $250 million worldwide — more than double the original’s $115 million gross.
Banks will next appear as the villain in the reboot of the “Power Rangers” franchise.
