Universal TV Names Chris Sanagustin as Head of Current Programming

Chris Sanagustin will oversee all dramas and comedies produced by Universal Television  in newly created position

Chris Sanagustin has been tapped to head current programming for Universal Television in a newly created role, Universal TV's executive vice president Bela Bajaria said Thursday.

Sanagustin previously served as senior vice president, current and developing programming for Universal Cable Productions, where she oversaw Syfy series “Warehouse 13,” “Eureka” and “Alphas.” Before that, she was a programming executive at the Sci-Fi Channel, which morphed into Syfy.

In her new position, Sanagustin will oversee all Universal Television-produced dramas and comedies, reporting to Bajaria.

“Chris has demonstrated an impressive talent for nurturing shows on air and helping them succeed and grow throughout her career at UCP and Syfy," Bajaria said. “She has earned the respect and admiration of  the creative community for her storytelling instincts in both comedy and drama—and we’re thrilled to have her on-board to help shape the future of Universal Television.”

Sanagustin served as senior vice president of current programming at the WB Television Network prior to coming to NBCUniversal.
