Universal Television has promoted Erin Underhill to the position of Executive Vice President, Drama Development, the company announced Wednesday.

The studio also hired producer Vivan Cannon as SVP of Drama Development. She will report to Underhill, who will in turn report to Universal TV president Pearlena Igbokwe.

“I have been nothing short of amazed by Erin’s work ethic and talent this past development season,” Igbokwe said. “She is well regarded by all our producers because she brings an extraordinary instinct for great characters and stories to the table.”

Underhill was previously SVP of Drama Development and oversaw the development on a slate of the studio’s projects that will premiere this season, including “The Brave,” “Good Girls,” “Reverie” and “Rise” at NBC and “Wisdom of the Crowd” at CBS.

Cannon is a veteran television producer, having produced pilots and series for HBO, Showtime, NBC, ABC and FX, among others. She recently served as executive producer on the AMC drama “Preacher” and developed and produced the pilot “Roadside Picnic” for WGN/Sony.

“Vivian’s deep well of relationships and her tenacity make her a perfect addition to the already incredible Universal Television team,” said Igbokwe.
