USA Network announced the pick-up of two new original series Wednesday, "A Legal Mind" and "Necessary Roughness."
Produced by Universal Cable Productions, and executive produced by Doug Liman (the "Bourne" Trllogy, USA's "Covert Affairs"), "A Legal Mind" stars Patrick J. Adams as a "brilliant but unmotivated college dropout" who gets recruited to work for one of Manhattan's legal firms. Gabriel Macht co-stars.
Co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Universal Cable Productions, "Necessary Roughness" stars Callie Thorne (pictured right) as a "tough, sexy Long Island divorcee who gets a job as a therapist for a pro football team. Writers Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro ("Miami Medical") created the show and will co-executive produce.
Both shows will premiere with 90-minute specials that are followed by 11 hourlong weekly episodes.
USA has yet to announce premiere dates.
