Vanessa Hudgens to Star in NBC’s DC Comics Comedy ‘Powerless’

Single-camera office comedy is set in superhero universe

Vanessa Hudgens has been cast as the lead on NBC’s DC comic book universe comedy “Powerless.”

The Warner Bros. Television-produed sitcom is a single-camera office comedy set in the DC Comics universe, following the lives of the average employees at an insurance company and their quest to find their own power.

Ben Queen is writing and executive producing the pilot with Michael Patrick Jann directing and executive producing.

Hudgens will play the lead role of Emily Locke. An insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because she gets to help people, Emily likes to fly under the radar and just get her work done. She finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various superheroes in her city.

Hudgens is best known for “High School Musical” and most recently played Rizzo in Fox’s “Grease Live” musical event. She is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
