‘Veronica Mars’ Fan Events Sell Out Fast, So AMC Adds More

Tickets to special screenings, set for one day ahead of March 14 opening, are gone in hours

AMC Theatres and Warner Bros. have added more special screenings for the “Veronica Mars” movie, after tickets to the special fan event showings sold out in hours Thursday.

The nationwide release of “Veronica Mars” is set for March 14 exclusively at AMC locations. The theater chain set up special fan screenings for one day earlier on March 13 in 17 major markets. It began selling tickets to those screenings at 9 a.m. Thursday and they sold out within hours, so additional show times have been added.

The screenings are aimed at fans who helped power the movie, based on the CW and UPN TV series, to the big screen with a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. It hit its $2 million goal on the same day that series creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell launched the drive.

Tickets for the regular run of “Veronica Mars” go on sale Friday.
