Vin Diesel Defends ‘Fate of the Furious’ Kissing Skills: ‘Do I Look Like a Dead Fish?’ (Video)

‘Fate of the Furious’ Star jokingly fires back on ‘Ellen’ after co-star Charlize Theron’s comments on their onscreen kiss

Earlier this month, Charlize Theron appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to talk about “Fate of the Furious” and her role in it – playing the villainous hacker-crimelord Cypher. The film sees Cypher blackmailing series main character Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) into becoming a criminal. And in one pivotal scene heavily featured in the film’s trailer, Cypher kisses Dom in front of his erstwhile #family to really send the message that he was working for the bad guys.

About the scene, Theron told Ellen that “I’m the crazy chick that’s doing this horrible thing to him and, as he should’ve, his character is just standing there frozen, like a dead fish.”

It seems Vin Diesel objects to that particular characterization of his onscreen kissing abilities, as he took pains during his own appearance today on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to defend his honor, and the honor of his lips’ acting ability.

“C’mon guys! Do I look like a dead fish?!” Diesel said to the audience, feigning offense when Ellen brought it up. (The crowd cheered of course.) “First of all, you don’t come on Ellen, with the wonderful animation of Finding Dory, and compare me to a dead fish. Right or wrong?”

“Fate of the Furious” is of course careening toward a billion dollars at the box office less than a month after driving into theaters. It’s expected to remain the number one film in the country this weekend, until it’s knocked off the top slot by another Vin Diesel film, the James-Gunn directed “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2,” the weekend of May 5.
