The Golden Globes social circuit is getting a facelift.

W Magazine will celebrate 2015’s “Best Performances” at an elite gathering at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Thursday, Jan. 7, heading into Golden Globes weekend, TheWrap’s Party Report has learned. The party ties into their “Best Performances” issue, a smartly-timed visual showcase for those in the thick of awards season.

W editor Stefano Tonchi and Lynn Hirschberg made the announcement with Chateau’ proprietor Andre Balazs on Friday. Last year, the party in the penthouse was so hot, we’re still not sure if the firefighters that came through the door were there on official business or just trying to spot stars.

West Hollywood’s heroes had to brush shoulders Aziz Ansari, Sarah Hyland, Johnny Knoxville, and Jessica Chastain, who were mixing with Minnie Driver, Reese Witherspoon, Paris Hilton, Henry Cavill and Christophe Waltz at the bash on the top floor that went late into the night.

The remodel of the Globes weekend social landscape is driven by Audi, who is joining forces with this event as a partner. Last year, they went head-to-head on a busy Thursday night with their own party at nearby Cecconis. For years, Audi has hosted a bash before the Globes, first on Sunday night seven days prior, and recently on that Thursday night, but always at the corner of Melrose and Robertson in West Hollywood. Dom Perignon will continue to pour the bubbles.

With this merge, W’s bash will become a significantly tougher invite, at least for those not nominated for a Globe or already awarded a “Best Performance” nod by Tonchi and Hirschberg.
