‘The Walking Dead’ Unveils Season 9 Trailer, Premiere Date (Video)

San Diego Comic-Con 2018: Catch a glimpse of imprisoned Negan and that helicopter

The “Walking Dead” Season 9 trailer dropped during the AMC drama’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, giving fans the first glimpse into the show’s new look under showrunner Angela Kang. It was also announced that Season 9 will premiere on October 7.

“No matter what happens, it’s human nature to come together,” Rick tells an imprisoned Negan as they build up the Sanctuary.

But Negan isn’t buying it.

“That’s a real pretty picture you paint, there, Rick. When do I get to see it?” he asks in the trailer. “You think you got all this on lock?”

Negan predicts the downfall of everyone living in such close proximity: “When it finally goes to sh–, and it will, make sure you come back and you tell me all about that day, too,” he tells Rick.

Maggie finally had her baby, and is taking more of a leadership role as she tells Rick, “When we were fighting the Saviors, you told me that soon you’d be the one following me. But you didn’t, because I wasn’t someone to follow. That changes now.” As we saw in the tease released on Thursday, Michonne urges Maggie to set some rules for all the communities that seem to be living together.

Meanwhile, Daryl seems to be advocating for the small group “we had in the beginning,” saying that it “was right” that way. And indeed, the relative peace that everyone seems to have been living in clearly doesn’t last, as we see plenty of fights breaking out in the newly released footage.

“The Walking Dead” Season 9 premieres Oct. 7 on AMC.
