Wanda Sykes Inks Comedy Development Deal With NickMom (Exclusive)

Additionally, the programming block on Nick Jr. has greenlit a unique dating series for single moms and dads

NickMom is boistering its programming slate with a new Wanda Sykes deal and a green light for a new dating series geared to single moms and dads, TheWrap has learned.

Under a new pact, Sykes and Page Hurwitz’s Push It Productions will develop a comedy project for NickMom, an evening programming block geared to mothers that airs on Nick Jr.

This is just the latest deal for Push It, which Sykes and Hurwitz founded in 2012. The company currently has a production deal with NBC, produces “Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious” for OWN and will be producing the new season of “Last Comic Standing” for NBC, among other projects.

The project will join a slate of new content in development for NickMom ranging from docu-comedy to reality competition, with name producers including Whoopi Goldberg.

NickMom has also greenlit six episodes of a hidden camera/dating series with the working title, “Undercover Cupid.” From executive producer Scott Stone (BrainSurge), Nyima Funk (“Whose Line Is It Anyway?”) hosts the series which shoots unsuspecting single moms and dads who are going about their day as they’re surprised by three eligible dates picked by their kids as they go about their daily lives.

Currently, NickMom airs nightly from 10 p.m to 2 a.m. on Nick Jr. with shows including “Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor,” which returns with its second season premieres this Friday, Jan 17 and Season 2 of “Take Me To Your Mother,” which premieres Saturday, Feb 1.

NickMom just finished out 2013 with a 67 percent increase in its key demo, Women 18-49.
