Warner Bros. Releasing 3D ‘Looney Tunes’ Short Films Theatrically

First short, “Daffy’s Rhapsody,” will debut in conjunction with “Happy Feet 2” on Nov. 18

Bugs Bunny, Sylvester the Cat, Tweety Bird, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, and the rest of the "Looney Tunes" gang are ready for their 3D closeups.

The anarchic critters will star in three original Looney Tunes 3D theatrical cartoon shorts produced by Warner Bros. Animation and directed by Matthew O’Callaghan ("Coyote Falls"), the studio announced on Wednesday.

Two of the new shorts — "Daffy’s Rhapsody" and "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat" — will feature legendary voice actor Mel Blanc. The filmmakers will use CG animation and stereoscopic 3D and set them to original songs Blanc recorded in character in the 1950s to integrate the deceased actor into the films.

The first of the shorts, "Daffy's Rhapsody," will hit theaters on November 18, 2011 in conjunction with the release of "Happy Feet 2." The other two shorts "Untitled Coyote & Road Runner" and "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat," don't have set release dates.

The three new shorts are executive produced by  Sam Register ("The Looney Tunes Show," "Teen Titans"). The producers are Spike Brandt ("The Looney Tunes Show") and Tony Cervone ("The Looney Tunes Show").

The new theatrical shorts follow closely after the launch of "The Looney Tunes Show," an all-new modern comedy series from Warner Bros. Animation which debuted in May and airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Cartoon Network.
