Daytime TV has broken yet another barrier: “Days of Our Lives” featured the wedding of Will and Sonny, the first two men to marry on a soap.
Soaps have traditionally been far ahead of primetime in their portrayal of gay characters, and the nuptials last week were no exception. In fact, Will and Sonny weren’t the first same-sex couple to marry on daytime TV.

ABC’s “All My Children” aired the first lesbian wedding in 2009, when Eden (Bianca Montgomery) and Tamara (Reese Williams) walked down the aisle.
A lot has changed since Will (Guy Wilson) started his relationship with Sonny Kiriakis ( Freddie Smith): Will used to be played by Chandler Massey, who departed the show last year.
