Watch Deadpool Crash Japanese ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer (Video)

“An after-credits scene for a trailer?” jokes the motormouthed comic book character

Deadpool has crashed the X-Men party in a first-of-its-kind end credits scene for a trailer.

The Japanese trailer for “X-Men: Apocalypse” came out a month ago, but it’s only now catching on in the U.S., trending on Facebook.

Watch Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool enter at the 2:32 mark (above) to see what everyone is buzzing about.

“Not everyone makes it to the end of Fox movies, so now we’re doing it after trailers,” said Reynolds as his motormouthed Marvel character, taking a self-depricating jab at the studio that released both his own Marvel hit and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Was Deadpool referencing the fact that the Bryan Singer directed “X-Men” sequel hasn’t performed all that well at the box office? Likely not, though at this point the Fox film has made only $523.8 million worldwide, compared with 2014’s “Days of Future Past,” which earned $747.9 million.

While it played for Japanese audiences, Deadpool’s humor also works for an American audience. Listing his top five things you may have missed in the “X-Men” trailer, the masked character likens Wolverine’s claws to Japanese Ginsu knives — among his many wisecracks in the footage.

Clearly, Fox was looking to bolster the “X-Men” opening in Japan with the credible character. On a much leaner budget, the R-rated “Deadpool” has easily out-earned “Apocalypse,” grossing $780.7 million worldwide and is the second highest earner of the year, behind Disney-Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War.”

In a similar move, Reynolds broke the fourth wall when he appeared in an Honest trailer in May.
