Watch Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones Sing ‘Happy Birthday’ for Stephen Hawking (Video)

The “Theory of Everything” stars had candles, cake and a crowd – everything but the man himself at a party in his honor at the British Consulate

Stephen Hawking turned 73 years old on Thursday, Jan. 8.

At the exact moment that Oscar nomination voting closed (5:00 p.m. PT on Thursday) the British Consul General, Chris O’Connor, threw a party in honor of “The Theory of Everything” stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones at his residence in Hancock Park.

Redmayne, who rose to fame singing in “Les Miserables,” and Jones led a round of “Happy Birthday” and did the honors. They blew out the candles in Hawking’s absence.
