Keanu Reeves premiered the latest trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 2” for eager fanboys during the New York Comic-Con panel for the sequel at Madison Square Garden.
Reeves said: “I really liked putting this suit back on, and getting to do what John Wick gets to do. The action, the passion. And the guy who is fighting to be free.”
Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, but we do know that Wick will travel to Rome in the sequel, and that it will explore the system of hotels that cater to assassins that we saw briefly in the first film.
The original R-rated action thriller about a hit man who comes out of retirement to avenge his murdered wife — and beagle — took in $14.1 million in its opening weekend and went on to make $43 million domestically and nearly $80 million worldwide.
Chad Stahelski is directing the film solo, after his partner David Leitch exited the project to prep the Charlize Theron film “The Coldest City.” Derek Kolstad wrote the screenplay. Robert Bernacchi, Kevin Scott Frakes, Vishal Rungta, Jeff G. Waxman, Stahelski and Leitch are serving as executive producers. Basil Iwanyk is producing.
“John Wick 2” will hit theaters on Feb. 10.
