What was meant to be Newt Gingrich offering up his election predictions turned into a bare-knuckle fight with Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly on Tuesday night.
The former House speaker and staunch Republican vehemently defended Donald Trump during the explosive interview, and accused his host of being “fascinated with sex.”
Sparks began flying early in the interview while the two were discussing the allegations made by multiple women claiming that Trump sexually assaulted or groped them over the years.
Kelly then referenced the infamous 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape, stressing that it was “not produced by Hillary Clinton,” then began asking “if Trump is a sexual predator,” but was cut off by her guest.
“I’m sick and tired of people like you — using language that’s inflammatory, that’s not true,” Gingrich said, pointing his finger at her.
When Kelly pointed out that we have no idea whether it is true or not, he replied: “Neither do you.”
“When you used the words, you took a position. And I think it’s very unfair of you to do that, Megyn. I think that is exactly the bias people are upset by,” Gingrich continued, referring to her well-documented feud with Trump during the primary presidential debates.
That’s when things really got heated between the two, with Kelly pointing out that while Trump denies all accusations against him, “we don’t know what the truth is, we don’t get to say the 10 women are lying.”
The conclusion that Gingrich arrived at about the Fox News host is “you are fascinated about sex and don’t care about public policy — that’s what I get from you tonight.”
While keeping her cool, Kelly replied that she is “not fascinated by sex — but is fascinated by the protection of women.”
Gingrich then sarcastically suggested that we send Bill Clinton back to the East Wing, “because you were worried about sexual predators.”
After a few more vicious jabs at each other, Kelly told him to “take his anger issues somewhere else.”
We’re guessing Gingrich won’t be a guest on “The Kelly File” again any time soon.
