Watch Prince Cover Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ at Coachella in Rare 2008 Clip (Video)

Hard-to-find footage of Prince’s own appearance at Coachella surfaced last year

With performers at Coachella this weekend taking advantage of their stage time with shout-outs to Prince, fans can reminisce about the late icon’s own appearance there, thanks to a rare clip of his 2008 set at the music festival.

Prince put on a storied show at Coachella eight years ago, but for years the performance was hard to experience yourself unless you were one of the lucky ones to see it live. Prince’s camp was diligent in issuing take-down requests, and most of the footage of that show disappeared quickly after it cropped up.

That changed last year, when YouTube user Miles Hartl uploaded a clip of Prince performing Radiohead’s breakout single “Creep.” Prince tweeted a tacit endorsement of the video, linking to an embedded version on NME’s video page.

Prince died Thursday at his home in Minnesota at the age of 57. He had a on-again, off-again relationship with his music on the Internet. He could swing from posting otherwise unreleased tracks on SoundCloud to pulling his music from most major streaming services — all within the same month.
