A video of the truck attack that left dozens of people dead in the city of Nice, France, on Thursday night has surfaced online.
The new video (above) shows the truck as it begins to drive into the crowd. Pedestrians can be seen fleeing from the vehicle as it first veers off the road, while police and security chase after it.
The truck, whose driver remains unidentified, plowed into the crowd in the city’s Promenade des Anglais where revelers gathered to watch a fireworks display in celebration of Bastille Day. As many as 80 people were killed and 100 injured.
Additional angles on the attack have emerged, as has video of the gruesome aftermath (WARNING: Linked video is extremely graphic).
The driver of the truck reportedly zig-zagged through the crowd in order to maximize casualties before the rampage, which continued for over a mile. Police then shot and killed the driver.
French officials said guns and explosives were later recovered from the truck.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, but anti-terrorism authorities have taken over the investigation of what President Obama said “appears to be a horrific terrorist attack” in a statement Thursday night. No one has yet claimed credit for the tragedy.
