Watch Zendaya, Zac Efron Accidentally Collide During ‘Greatest Showman’ Outtake (Video)

Blooper footage shows actors’ bodies slamming together

Zendaya’s scene with Zac Efron in “The Greatest Showman” is expected to be one of the most spectacular sequences of the film — but it wasn’t easy to execute.

During Zendaya’s appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” host Jimmy Fallon said he had some iPhone footage of a collision between the two actors while they were swinging from ropes, which Zendaya said happened more than once. (See it at the 3:55 mark above.)

“We’re supposed to grab onto each other with the other arm and get in this swing, which is in all the posters and it’s beautiful — and that’s great,” she explained, adding that there were no harnesses supporting the two. “But… if you don’t catch each other…”

Before production began on “The Greatest Showman,” Zendaya said that director Michael Gracey told her she needed to start working out because he wanted to use the stunt doubles “as little as possible.”

The actress said she started building her upper body strength, which she said she had none of before filming and hasn’t retained any of the muscle mass since production wrapped.

“The Greatest Showman” also stars Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Rebecca Ferguson and hits theaters Dec. 20.
