Weiner Stiffs Wisconsin After Lewd Photo Scandal

Congressman bails on speech at state Democratic Convention, presumably so he can spend time tracking down the real pranksters

Sorry, Wisconsin; U.S Rep. Anthony Weiner won't be poking around in your area this weekend.

The recently embattled Congressman, who has been struggling to regain control of his image after a photo of an erect penis was sent out via his Twitter account, has canceled his scheduled Friday speech at Milwaukee's state Democratic Convention, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The cancellation was confirmed by party spokesperson Graeme Zielinski, who told the paper, "It's understandable, considering what's going on."

Weiner has reluctantly been in the spotlight this week, after reports broke that a photo of a male crotch in an aroused state had been published on his Twitter account and sent to a female college student in Seattle. In a series of awkward media appearances, the representative has vainly attempted to talk the controversy away, at one point admitting that he could not say "with certitude" if the member in the twit-pic was his or not.

Weiner was to be one of the main speakers at the convention, but instead, Zielinski says, he "opted to stay in New York . .. with his family."
