From slight social commentary in his Pharrell parody (“Tacky”) to clever double-meaning in his take on Lorde’s “Royals”  (“Foil), the first three songs of “Mandatory Fun” have been smart, winking nods at the audience, statements about something insane or at least laughable going on in 21st century America. His fourth video, however, largely abandons his light-touch observation, trading criticism in for pure silliness.
