What’s the Deal With Internet Outrage? The Battle Over Marvel Courting Ava DuVernay (Video)

Wrap film reporter Jeff Sneider wonders why nice turns negative so quickly in the age of knee-jerk reactions on the web

Why did everyone sour on the news of Ava DuVernay being courted to direct a Marvel movie so quickly?

TheWrap’s film reporter Jeff Sneider reported earlier in the week that Marvel Studios had started talking to the “Selma” filmmaker regarding possibly taking on one of their upcoming films, likely “Black Panther” or “Captain Marvel.”

The news was met with enthusiasm at first, but soon people seemed to turn on it.

In a new video, Sneider rails against kneejerk reactions and “thinkpieces” that do more harm than good in the everlasting push-and-pull between studios making big decisions and the fans who think they should have a say in the matter.

Let us know in the comments section what you think of DuVernay possibly directing a Marvel movie, and what sort of effect the cycle of news and commentary might be having on the industry.
