Will Forte Exits ‘Saturday Night Live’ After 8 Seasons

The “MacGruber” star announced his departure from the sketch show “to pursue new opportunities”

Will Forte won't be spending weekends on stage at 30 Rock anymore, as the comedian on Thursday announced his departure from NBC's "Saturday Night Live" after eight seasons.

Forte's publicist, Lewis Kay, told TheWrap that it was Forte's decision to depart the legendary sketch show.

"After eight great seasons, Will has made the decision to move on from SNL to pursue new opportunities. He is eternally grateful to Lorne and all of the incredible people he worked with over the years," Kay said.

Forte first appeared on "Saturday Night Live" during its 2002-03 season. He is probably best known for his "MacGyver" spoof "MacGruber," which was made into a feature film that was released in May.

News of Forte's "SNL" departure was first reported by the New York Times' ArtsBeat blog
