Will Packer Renews Universal TV Deal Through 2017

“People Are Talking,” “Uncle Buck” producer to remain at studio

Producer Will Packer has renewed his deal with Universal Television and will remain at the studio through 2017.

Packer, known for producing films such as “Think Like a Man” and “The Wedding Ringer,” has produced through his Will Packer Production two broadcast comedies set for this Fall — NBC’s “People Are Talking” and ABC’s “Uncle Buck.” Packer is also producing A+E Networks’ upcoming revival of the miniseries “Roots.”

“Will Packer is energetic, passionate, creative and wants to win,” said Universal Television president Bela Bajaria. “He is a collaborative partner, a hands-on producer and is absolutely the best dressed!”

“People Are Talking” Stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Vanessa Lachey, Tone Bell and Bresha Webb as two couples who are neighbors and best friends. “Uncle Buck” will feature comic Mike Epps in an adaptation of the 1989 feature film starring John Candy.

“Roots” is scheduled to premiere in 2016 and will air simultaneously on A&E, History and Lifetime.
