Ratings: Game 1 of World Series Approaches 20 Million Total Viewers

NBC, CBS forfeit Tuesday to Fox’s strong World Series start

Fox had Tuesday on lock, as Game 1 of the 2016 World Series started strong despite becoming a bit of a blowout by the end.

As a result, the competition slipped, though it mostly maintained the usual order — just behind Fox. NBC was the runner-up in the key 18-49 demographic, while CBS finished second among total viewers.

Fox was first in ratings with a 5.4 rating/18 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 19.4 million, according to preliminary numbers. Game 1 ran throughout Fox’s primetime.

NBC was second in ratings with a 2.0/7 and third in viewers with 8.3 million. “The Voice” at 8 put up a 2.1/7 and 9.4 million viewers. “This Is Us” (pictured above) at 9 posted a 2.4/7 and 8.7 million viewers. At 10, “Chicago Fire” received a 1.6/6 and 6.9 million viewers.

CBS was third in ratings with a 1.5/5 and second in viewers with 11.7 million. “NCIS” at 8 landed a 1.7/6 and 13.9 million viewers. At 9, “Bull” had a 1.5/5 and 11.6 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 10 got a 1.3/5 and 9.6 million viewers.

ABC was fourth in ratings with a 1.1/4 and in viewers with 3.8 million. “The Middle” at 8 opened primetime to a 1.5/5 and 5.6 million viewers. At 8:30, “American Housewife” had the same rating/share, but 5 million viewers. “Fresh Off the Boat” at 9 got a 1.2/4 and 3.8 million viewers. At 9:30, “The Real O’Neals” received a 1.0/3 and 3.2 million viewers. “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” at 10 managed a 0.8/3 and 2.6 million viewers.

The CW and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.7/2. CW was fifth in total viewers with 1.8 million, and Telemundo was sixth with 1.7 million.

For CW, “The Flash” at 8 had a 1.0/3 and 2.7 million viewers. At 9, “No Tomorrow” concluded that network’s prime with a 0.2/1 and 748,000 viewers.

Univision was seventh in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.66 million.
