Ewan McGregor Will Star in ‘Born to Be King,’ Kate Hudson Next?

Ewan McGregor will star in filmmaker Peter Capaldi’s romantic comedy, “Born to Be King,” with Kate Hudson in negotiations to star opposite McGregor

Ewan McGregor will star in filmmaker Peter Capaldi’s romantic comedy, “Born to Be King,” with Kate Hudson in negotiations to star opposite McGregor, it was announced Thursday by Indomina Releasing, the worldwide distribution division of The Indomina Group.

Capaldi is set to direct the film from his own screenplay. Indomina Releasing will handle worldwide sales rights to the film and will begin shopping to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM).

“Born to Be King” is a mistaken identity comedy about an extra (McGregor) who has an uncanny resemblance to a movie star, and a Hollywood starlet (the role Hudson is considering) who’s at war with the movie star, but begins to fall for the extra.

Alexandra Stone and Dan Lupovitz will produce the film. Ron Fogelman and William Parente will executive produce. Elaine Collins will co-produce. Stephanie Denton and Indomina’s Rob Williams negotiated the deal with Lupovitz and Stone. Denton will lead the sales efforts on behalf of Indomina. The film will shoot at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. in January 2013.
