The full trailer for season two of “Yellowstone” is out, and it foreshadows new dangers facing the Dutton family in the fight to protect their ranch.
“There’s a war coming,” patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) says in the trailer. “All the angels are gone, son. There’s only devils left.”
The Western drama follows the Dutton family’s struggle to protect their Montana cattle ranch, which is the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. As alliances shift and murders go unsolved, the ranch is in constant conflict with those it shares borders with — land developers, a Native American reservation and Yellowstone National Park.
Other cast members include Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White and Gil Birmingham.
In its first season, “Yellowstone” averaged 5.1 million total viewers per episode, according to “Live + 7” data from Nielsen, which includes a week’s worth of delayed viewing where available. That audience tally made the Costner-led drama 2018’s second-most-watched cable series behind “The Walking Dead” and Paramount Network’s most-watched show ever, even counting the network’s years as Spike TV.
Taylor Sheridan, who received an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay for “Hell or High Water,” serves as writer, showrunner, and co-creator alongside John Linson (“Sons of Anarchy”). The Paramount Network original drama is co-produced and co-financed by 101 Studios. Costner executive produces along with Sheridan, Linson and his father Art, and David C. Glasser.
Season 2 of “Yellowstone” premieres Wednesday, June 19 at 10/9c on Paramount Network.
