Damian Lewis is playing former Toronto mayor Rob Ford in the upcoming film “Run This Town,” and if a photo from set is any indication, the “Homeland” actor will be unrecognizable in his new role.
Lewis has spoken out about the intense costume before, saying that wears so much makeup and prosthetics that he has to breathe out of a small hole in the getup.
The real-life Ford died in 2016 at age 46 after a cancer diagnosis. He was disgraced in 2013 when a video surfaced of him smoking crack.
“Run This Town” will follow a young journalist, played by Ben Platt, on the trail of a scandal involving Ford (Lewis). The movie will also star Nina Dobrev and Mena Massoud as political aids. Ricky Tollman wrote the screenplay and Randy Manis and Jonathan Bronfman are producing with co-producer Ariella Naymark.
