Andy Richter Dings NBC, Leno on ‘Regis & Kelly’ (video)

Conan can’t do TV — but Andy can. Check out why he’s still steamed at NBC and Jay

Coco can’t talk. But Andy Richter apparently can– and this morning, he did.

Conan O’Brien’s trusty sidekick guest hosted today’s "Live! With Regis and Kelly," and he had plenty to say about LateNightCrisis2010. Including his true feeling towards NBC.

"Do you have any ill feelings toward NBC or Jay?" Kelly Ripa aked Richter.

"Yes. Yes I do," Richter replied. "Why wouldn’t I? I’d be like some sort of self-hater. NBC definitely– everybody (at the network) said they were going to do something. And then they didn’t."

Ratings for "The Tonight Show" "were pretty good all summer. And then our lead-in changed. And then they weren’t so good anymore.

"I don’t think it was a good plan," Richter added. "There was a lot of planning that was done that was short-sighted."

Richter also expressed frustration with Jay Leno, who had gone on record supporting the handover of "Tonight" to O’Brien six years ago.

"It’s very frustranting when someone says… ‘I’m going to hand this over… and then doesn’t,’ Richter said. "And then says things like, ‘I didn’t have a choice.’ and then he doesn’t. Multiimillionaires are always being forced to do things they don’t want to do."
