Witnesses filmed footage of Tony Scott leaping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro on Sunday, and some of that footage is being shopped around to various media outlets, according to TMZ.
TMZ reported Tuesday that multiple people took photos and videos of the famed director’s death, as did a local business.
The celebrity news site claims it has seen the footage but that it declined to purchase the material.
Scott died on Sunday after leaping off the bridge into the Los Angeles harbor. The coast guard recovered his body, and the coroner has since conducted an autopsy, choosing to defer judgment on the cause of death.
Though it is being investigated as a suicide, the coroner’s offices still want to perform further medical tests, including a toxicology report.
According to David Silva, a witness interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, Scott was both methodical and nervous before he plunged to his death.
He "paused a couple of seconds and then began to climb the fence. He put his foot on the top of the fence and paused again. And then he threw himself off. I immediately thought, that guy is dead," Silva said.
