Michael Jackson’s Father Hospitalized After Suffering Stroke

Jackson family patriarch hopes to be released Friday

Joe Jackson, the father of deceased King of Pop Michael Jackson, has been hospitalized in Las Vegas after suffering a mild stroke Wednesday night, a spokeswoman for Jackson told TheWrap.

Jackson, 84, had difficulty standing in his home, and when he did manage to stand and attempted to walk, he continually ran into the wall, the spokeswoman said.

Jackson also said that he felt like something was squeezing his head.

The elder Jackson called a friend, who transported him to UMC hospital in Las Vegas.

Tests are being conducted on Jackson, and he hopes to be released on Friday. According to the spokeswoman, Jackson currently isn't in pain, and "he sounds optimistic."

In the meantime, Jackson's wife Katherine is on her way to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, where she cares for Michael Jackson's children. Other family members are also traveling to Las Vegas to be with Jackson.

The spokeswoman added that the Jackson family patriarch has had three strokes in the past.
