ABC’s ‘The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez’ Pilot Casts ‘Looking’ Alum Raúl Castillo

Actor also joins indie comedy movie “Permission”

Raúl Castillo has joined ABC’s “The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez” pilot, TheWrap has learned.

Described as “MacBeth with a Cuban twist,” the ABC Studios pilot was written and exec produced by Charise Castro Smith and exec produced by “Agent Carter” showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters.

An immigrant who rose from rags to riches, Eva Sofia Valdez is a celebrated Miami entrepreneur and a champion for immigrant rights. But her success is fueled by an insatiable ambition that could destroy her family, a vendetta against the lover who betrayed her, and ghosts from the past who threaten to reveal the dark sacrifices Eva Sofia made to attain the American Dream.

Castillo will play the role of Sebastian, Eva Sofia’s oldest son.

Castillo has also joined the cast of romantic comedy “Permission,” starring Rebecca Hall and Dan Stevens.

The actor is best known for his role as Richie on HBO’s “Looking.” He will reprise the role in the “Looking” movie, set to premiere later this year. He has a co-starring role in Ricky Gervais‘ “Special Correspondents.”

He is represented by by CAA and TMT Entertainment.
