Adam Sandler and Happy Madison Productions have signed a deal to make an animated film for STX Entertainment. The star will write, produce and voice the yet-to-be-titled movie.

The film is part of STX’s plan to put out 12 to 15 movies a year. And it’s not the only animated feature in STX’s pipeline, as the studio is also developing an Uglydoll movie, based on the popular toy brand.

This follows two key deals recently brokered by STX at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The entertainment company pre-purchased U.S. and China rights to Aaron Sorkin‘s feature “Molly’s Game” and also bought international rights to Martin Scorsese‘s forthcoming mob feature “The Irishman.”

Chairman of the STX Entertainment Motion Picture Group Adam Fogelson said the company is seeking more opportunities in the family space. “As we continue to grow our company, the family arena is of critical importance to STX Entertainment and we are tremendously excited to have Adam Sandler and Happy Madison developing projects with us for the global animation market,” he said in a Tuesday statement.

Sandler’s popular “Hotel Transylvania” movies have brought in more than $825 million worldwide.

Fogelson previously worked on hits including “Despicable Me,” “Despicable Me 2,” “Minions” and “The Lorax.”
