Alex Wolff (“In Treatment”) and newcomer Themo Melikidze (“Beautiful Something”) will play Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the brothers responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing, in Peter Berg‘s drama “Patriots Day,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.

Mark Wahlberg stars alongside John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Kevin Bacon and Michelle Monaghan. The film co-stars Jimmy O. Yang, Michael Beach, Vincent Curatola and James Colby.

“Patriots Day” chronicles the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. The Tsarnaev brothers (pictured below) were radicalized terrorists responsible for the bombing and the violence that followed.

Wahlberg is producing the film with Scott Stuber, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky. CBS Films and Lionsgate are co-financing the movie, with the former handling production and marketing, and the latter handling distribution.

“Patriots Day” will open in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 21. Production is currently underway in Boston.

Wolff previously starred on HBO’s “In Treatment” and can currently be seen in “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.” He recently wrapped Olivia Milch’s “Dude” with Austin Butler and Lucy Hale, as well as the indie comedy “The Standoff” with Olivia Holt. He’s represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.

Melikidze is repped by Adam Park of Park Noack Agency and attorneys Eric Suddleson and Chris Abramson of Felker Toczek Suddelson Abramson.
