Adult-film actress Amber Rayne, who accused porn actor James Deen of assault and rape, died over the weekend, AVN reports. She was 31.

Rayne reportedly died peacefully in her sleep, though it’s not currently known if she died late Saturday or early Sunday.

Porn performer-turned-director Stormy Daniels told AVN that Rayne “was a really good friend, and one of the best actresses and performers that I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with.”

Daniels added via Twitter that she had been informed of Rayne’s death by the actress’ mother.

“Her mother called me yesterday and told me. I’m helping her family make arrangements for the care of her horse,” Daniels tweeted.

TheWrap has reached out to the Los Angeles County coroner for comment.

In December, Rayne claimed that she was filming a scene with Deen when she called him a “son of a bitch,” which allegedly angered Deen, who Rayne claims punched her in the face twice and raped her.

Born in Detroit, Rayne entered the adult-film industry in 2005, amassing more than 500 credits. She received multiple nominations from the AVN Awards — the porn equivalent of the Oscars — throughout her career, including as a supporting actress in 2009’s “The 8th Day” and in 2015’s “Wanted.”

Deen has been accused of misconduct by multiple porn actresses. He has denied the accusations.

Rayne, who also owned a horse farm, announced her retirement from the adult-film business in 2015.
