“American Dad” will be on TBS for two more seasons, taking the Seth MacFarlane-created comedy through its 300th episode.
The series, which aired on Fox for its first 11 seasons, has been airing on TBS since 2014. It’s been a stable performer for the network with the current season averaging nearly 18 million viewers across all TBS platforms.
“‘American Dad!’ has achieved an incredible milestone,” said Brett Weitz, general manager for TNT, TBS, & truTV. “Matt and Brian are brilliant writers who consistently overdeliver on big comedy and even bigger absurdity. We look forward to continuing the momentum by giving devoted fans two more seasons of the Smith family.”
The series, created by MacFarlane in 2005, is led by showrunners Matt Weitzman and Brian Boyle.

MacFarlane last week signed a massive, $200 million overall with NBCUniversal Content Studios, leaving his longtime home at 20th Century Fox. MacFarlane, who voices the lead role of Stan Smith, will continue to serve as an executive producer with “American Dad” as well as “Family Guy” and “The Orville.” All three are produced by 20th Century Fox TV.
