No clowning around — Ryan Murphy might have just dropped a big clue about the upcoming seventh season of “American Horror Story.”

“AHS” co-creator Murphy hit up Instagram on Monday to alert fans that a familiar — and gruesome — face could be returning to the FX anthology series, posting a photo of someone holding a book titled “Twisty the Clown Chronicles.”

“He’s Baaaaaack,” Murphy captioned the photo.

In typically cryptic “American Horror Story” fashion, Murphy didn’t elaborate further.

“American Horror Story” will fans will recall Twisty as the menacing clown portrayed by John Carroll Lynch in the “Freak Show” iteration of the series.

While details on the upcoming season have been scant, Murphy has said in the past that the next season of the series will involve the most recent presidential election.

In May, Murphy also teased a drawing of an elephant-like creature with an eerily Twisty-like smile.

As if our political system needs one more clown than it already has…
