Google is a pretty incredible technology company — but its Translate algorithm could probably use a little more work.
Jimmy Fallon and Anne Hathaway exploited the service’s weaknesses on Monday’s “The Tonight Show,” when the NBC host’s staff translated some pop songs into Hungarian and then translated the results back the English. The final lyrics were a bit off from the original ones, to say the least.
For example, “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd became “My Front Is Not Felt,” which Hathaway masterfully belted out.
Next, Fallon turned Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” into “I Will Be Punctual.” Both are pretty important messages, we think.
Finally, the two did a duet of P!nk and Nate Ruess’s “Just Give Me a Reason,” which Google turned into “Only Tell Me Grounds.” Sure, whatever.
