“Jackie,” “Cafe Society,” “Fences,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “Hidden Figures” and “Hail, Caesar!” have been nominated for excellence in production design by the Art Directors Guild in the period-film category, the ADG Awards category that typically produces most of the Oscar nominees for Best Production Design.

In the fantasy-film category, the nominees are “Arrival,” “Doctor Strange,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “Passengers” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

And among contemporary films, the ADG nominated “Hell or High Water,” “La La Land,” “Lion,” “Manchester by the Sea” and “Nocturnal Animals.”

Over the last decade, 80 percent of the Oscar nominees for production design have first received ADG nominations, including all 10 winners. The ADG’s period category has produced 24 of the 50 nominees, and six of the winners; the fantasy category has produced another 14 nominees and four winners, including “Mad Max: Fury Road” last year.

In the one-hour television series categories, nominees included “Game of Thrones,” “Stranger Things,” “The Crown,” “The Man and the High Castle” and “Westworld” for period or fantasy series and “Better Call Saul,” “Bloodline,” “House of Cards,” “Mr. Robot” and “Preacher” for contemporary series.

Half-hour series nominations included “Mozart in the Jungle,” “Silicon Valley,” “The Last Man on Earth,” “2 Broke Girls,” “Baby Daddy” and “The Great Indoors.”

“American Horror Story: Roanoke,” “Black Mirror” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson” were among the nominees for TV movie or limited series.

And Beyonce’s “Lemonade” hogged the short-format category, which covers web series, music videos and commercials. Three separate videos from “Lemonade” were nominated alongside ads for Adidas and iPhone.

The 21st Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards will take place on Saturday, February 11 in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Also at the ceremony, the late Gene Allen will be inducted into the Art Directors Guild Hall of Fame. Lifetime Achievement Awards will go to production designer Rene Lagler, scenic artist Albert Obregon, set designer Cate Bangs and senior illustrator Joseph Musso.
