Christopher Nolan already knew that he wasn't going home empty-handed from the Ninth annual Visual Effects Society Awards.

But now, his film "Inception" has the chance to add several more honors to the VES Visionary Award that Nolan is due to receive at the February 1 ceremony.

InceptionNolan's hit movie was the most-honored film in the VES nominations, which were announced on Sunday. In addition to a nomination in the category of Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual-Effects Driven Feature, the film was also singled out for its created environment, models and miniatures and compositing.

Other multiple nominees included "Iron Man 2," "Tron: Legacy," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" and the animated "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," with three each, and "Alice in Wonderland," "Hereafter," "Tangled," "Toy Story 3" and "Shrek Forever After," with two.

"Inception," "Tron" and "Alice" are considered Oscar frontrunners.

The biggest overall nominee was the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire," with five noms.

The VES announced nominees in 24 categories, ranging from film and television to commercial and video games.

The ceremony, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, will also honor Ray Harryhausen with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
