Perhaps Neil Patrick Harris should just join the Backstreet Boys permanently.

Tuesday’s BSB reunion boosted NBC’s “Best Time Ever” to its best rating yet at 8 p.m.; Kelsey Grammar as guest announcer probably didn’t stifle the growth either either. Later, after a “Voice” recap show, “Chicago Fire” rose in total viewers — the third week in a row that NBC can make that claim.

The CW managed to edge Fox in the key demo and in total viewers. CBS finished first on Tuesday in both categories.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.9 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 13.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8, “NCIS” earned a 2.3/7, up 10 percent from last week. It score 16.2 million viewers. One hour later, the lower-rated “NCIS: New Orleans” rose 19 percent to a 1.9/6 and 14 million viewers. “Limitless” had a 1.5/5 at 10 and 7.8 million viewers.
