‘Baywatch’ Super Bowl Trailer Shows Zac Efron Wearing ‘Freedom’ (Video)

Efron’s American flag Speedo is more like “desecration,” according to The Rock

Zac Efron and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson are working together to stop beach crime as lifeguards in the new “Baywatch” trailer released during the Super Bowl.

The reboot of the 1990s David Hasselhoff TV show is all jokes, mostly at the expense of Efron’s clueless hunk Matt Brody. The Rock is taking on the role of veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, the character Hasselhoff originated on the TV show. The two don’t seem to get along much, especially when Efron opens his mouth without thinking it through, and rips off his pants to reveal an American flag Speedo in the trailer.

Other characters from the show are also returning in the reboot. There’s C.J. Parker, the role originated by Pamela Anderson, who’s being played by Kelly Rohrbach in the reboot. Alexandra Daddario as Summer Quinn, Priyanka Chopra as Victoria Leeds and  Ilfenesh Hadera as Stephanie Holden round out the lifeguard team.

Though they’re not reprising their newly recast roles in the film, both Hasselhoff and Anderson both also will appear in the movie, and comedian Hannibal Buress will show up before the end as well.

Director Seth Gordon is helming the movie, bringing comedy chops from his previous work on “Horrible Bosses” and “Identity Thief.” “Baywatch” hits theaters on May 26.
