Support for Polanski Makes My Blood Boil
The Industry's reflexive reaction protesting the arrest of Roman Polanski (who, if you’ve forgotten, drugged, raped and sodomized a 13- year-old actress) makes my blood boil.
In the New Hollywood there is no equivalent term for what prisoners call “short eyes.” That label will get you killed in prison. Hardened criminals have families of their own and don’t take kindly to the rape of a child. What do prisoners know that Hollywood has forgotten?
It’s very simple, actually. Children are not born to be props or sexual objects.
They are not Meerkats on an African savannah, available for exploitation by any “Documentarian” who passes by. A child’s naivete is not the proper target for cunning marketing schemes or sexual predation. Children can be gravely injured by a thoughtless remark, let alone anal penetration.
Dark forces are after our children. In Hollywood, unable to distinguish the difference between child and adult, bad conduct is actually rewarded. Children in the media, given Hollywood's lamentable product-line, are at terrible risk ... as if we didn't already know this thanks to Jon & Kate and Nadya Suleman (Octo-Mom).
Kids are routinely hired to act out the fantasies of anti-social, agenda-driven writers and directors in pursuit of their so-called ‘art.’ Hollywood will tell you that we’re not smart enough to judge them, which would be fine but for the fact that Hollywood doesn’t even judge itself.
I don’t care that Mr. Polanski has an intimate, life-long acquaintance with tragedy. I certainly don’t care that amoral Hollywood has showered him with awards and encouraged his artistic efforts for more than thirty years despite behavior that in any other walk of life would demolish any thought of a public career.
Remember this; Roman Polanski deliberately, consciously, lured an ambitious 13-year-old into his lair, plied her with champagne and ‘Ludes, then proceeded to have his way with her in multiple assaults before taking her home to her mother … who had dropped her daughter off in his care in the first place. He expected a 13- year-old actress to honor a little Hollywood secret.
In Polanski's case it's time for both the Message and the Messenger to be brought to account by our legal system. We can do our part by carefully noting who has signed the Polanski Petition and then evaluating our choices as consumers.

I was also stunned that the denizens of Hollywood's ivory towers are evidently so far removed from reality that they could make the shocking argument that film-making prowess somehow entitles Mr. Polanski to a special version of the law, and expect the rest of us to go along. What they conveniently leave out is the fact that he pleaded guilty to lesser charges and then had the gall to flee the sweetheart deal he should never have been given in the first place. Welcome back, Mr. Polanski. Notwithstanding the indefensible excuses being made for you by your colleagues, you're finally going to be required to man up.

Paul, thank for saying what I'm thinking! I wonder what Mr. Polanski's supporters would say if it were their 13 yr old daughter, niece, sister, etc. I'm disgusted by the support he has received. I hear the voice of sympathy for what he suffered in the murder of his wife and child, and I too am sorry for his loss, but that does excuse his actions. He is a criminal. He proved less than a man when he ran. He has lived a priviledged life all the while. He has flaunted his life-style, earned Oscar nominations for his projects, again all while on the run from justice.
It is my prayer that justice will finally be served, that he will locked up and left to the general population of state prison and suffer the consequences of being a child rapist.

I can never support you again and I can never watch Pan's Labyrinth without thinking that the little girl in the movie is around the same age as the girl Polanski raped. For shame. Thank you, thank you, Paul for being a voice for people in this country who actually do know right from wrong. They, unfortunately cannot compete with the financial resources and media outlets awarded to Polanski by his Hollywood supporters. In my small way, I have tried to boycott films of those who exploit their celebrity to get weak-minded individuals to follow their warped way of thinking. If the 2008 election didn't convince this country that Hollywood does not have main stream America's interest at heart, nothing will. Polanski is just part of the evil that waves the "we above the law" flag in Tinseltown. Thankfully, you are among those who carry the torch for what should be plain in the eyes of everyone...do the crime...pay the time.

Thanks for having the strength to speak up against the Oh so blatantly not just morally corrupt, but obvious, to most everyone now, criminally corrupt Hollywood Machine. One can't help wondering if hollywood is sooo incestuous, that taking thirteen year old actresses home, plying them with drugs and alcohol and raping them in all manners and forms, is actually considered "normal," conduct and "acceptable behavior.
I think it's time Michael moore, or some other less hollywood known documentarian, used the re-arreset of Roman Polanski, and what it has shown of hollywoods underbelly, to do a serious investigative report, regarding what one can't help wondering might be a chronic and regular activity of drugging and raping young children, and then, buying them or their parents off afterwards. I'm a left winger, canadian, more socialist for goodness sakes then your most left winger in your country, and yet, I'm still shocked and appalled by the Hollywood reaction. I mean, what PLANET are these people on? Obviously, Hollywood itself, needs to have it's really, dirty, dirty secrets pulled clean out of it's closet.

The Kate and JOn thing is absolutely disgusting, but this, the reaction to this guy, who has lived FREE for his whole life, such "suffering," and "paying for your debt," that is, while his victim has been defined by his actions for HER whole life, in a kind of prison sentence, is just, well, it's disgusting.
All of them who support this guy are disgusting. Let him stand trial, and if they decide he's suffered enough, fine. Or decide to be leniant for his age, "whatever."
