Disney’s President of Consumer Products Bob Chapek was named chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Monday, succeeding Tom Staggs in the role vacated when Staggs was upped to COO earlier this month.

Chapek, who has been with the company for 22 years, previously served as President of Distribution for Disney from 2009 to 2011. He also headed Disney’s home entertainment division and introduced the notorious “Disney vault” release strategy for library films.

The executive joins Disney Parks and Resorts amid construction of the studio’s Shanghai theme park and “Avatar” experience at Walt Disney World in Florida.
