Boyfriend of Morgan Freeman’s Step-Granddaughter Charged With Murder in Her Stabbing Death

The NYPD confirms Lamar Davenport has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of E’Dena Hines

Lamar Davenport, boyfriend of Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter E’Dena Hines, has been charged with second degree murder after allegedly stabbing her to death on Sunday, the New York Police Department announced Monday.

Davenport stabbed Hines 16 times while performing a reported “exorcism” on Sunday. NYPD said the stabbing happened on West 162nd Street and St. Nicholas Avenue near Hines’ Washington Heights apartment shortly before 3 a.m.

Freeman mourned Hines’ death on Sunday: “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”

He also took to his Facebook page to thank fans for their support.

The actor also thanked fans for the “tremendous outpouring of love and support” following news of Hines’ death in a post on his Facebook page.

“I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -M”
