Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard Romance ‘Allied’ Drops New Teaser at Most Awkward Possible Time

The movie, set during World War II, will be released on Nov. 23

Awkward timing? A new one-minute teaser for Brad Pitt‘s upcoming WWII-era romance “Allied” dropped on Tuesday — one day after his wife, Angelina Jolie, filed for divorce after two years of marriage and 12 years together.

In the film, Pitt plays U.S. intelligence officer Max Vatan, who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.

This film is directed by Robert Zemeckis based on the screenplay by Steven Knight. Knight is also an executive producer on the project, along with Patrick McCormick, Denis O’Sullivan and Jack Rapke. Zemeckis is also a producer along with Graham King.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after just over two years of marriage. They had been a couple since 2004.

Jolie listed their official date of separation as September 15, 2016, in court papers obtained by TheWrap. The papers were filed by lawyer Laura Wasser in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, and they cite “irreconcilable differences.”

Jolie is requesting sole physical custody of the couples’ six children, offering Pitt visitation rights and joint legal custody. Pitt officially adopted three of Jolie’s children, while Jolie gave birth to three more children of their own over the course of their relationship.

Talk about awkward timing for a trailer release?

“Allied” will premiere in theaters on Nov. 23.
