Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” remake with Lady Gaga will hit theaters on May 18, 2018, four months earlier than its previously announced release on Sept. 28, 2018, Warner Bros. announced Friday.

The move situates the film at the beginning of the summer movie season where so far it will only face off against a horror adaptation of “Slenderman” and an untitled Laika animated production.

It leaves behind Kevin Hart’s “Night School,” which is still expected to open on Sept. 28, 2018.

Cooper, who is making his directorial debut with the film, plays Jackson Maine, a country music star who is on the brink of decline when he discovers an unknown talent named Ally, played by Lady Gaga (here credited under her given name, Stefani Germanotta).

The two begin a passionate love affair as Ally catapults to stardom.

Lady Gaga will also compose and perform original songs in the film. The main cast also includes Dave Chappelle, Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Elliott.

“A Star Is Born” is being produced by Bill Gerber, Jon Peters, Todd Phillips, Lynette Howell Taylor and Cooper, while Basil Iwanyk and Ravi Mehta are serving as executive producers.

Cooper, Will Fetters and Eric Rothwrote the screenplay, based on the 1937 classic story by William A. Wellman and Robert Carson.

The film has been remade twice before, in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
