“Breaking Bad” producer Mark Johnson and his company Gran Via Productions has signed a first-look deal with Steven Rales’ Indian Paintbrush for film projects.
Johnson is currently working out of office space at Indian Paintbrush’s headquarters in Santa Monica, though he is not an employee of Indian Paintbrush, nor is he replacing Mark Roybal, who recently left the company to work at 20th Century Fox.

Johnson recently collaborated with Indian Paintbrush on David Chase’s feature directorial debut “Not Fade Away,” while Gran Via’s upcoming releases include Claudia Llosa’s drama “Aloft,” which stars Jennifer Connelly, Melanie Laurent and Cillian Murphy.
Gran Via is also developing an English-language remake of the Oscar-winning Argentine thriller “The Secret in Their Eyes” as well as an adaptation of the popular video game “Myst.”
Johnson is the Oscar-winning producer of “Rain Man” who also produced the hit “Narnia” trilogy for 20th Century Fox and Walden Media. He was recently nominated for his fourth PGA award for “Breaking Bad,” which won the Golden Globe for Best TV Series, Drama on Sunday night, as well as the 2013 Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series.

Indian Paintbrush also signed a two-year, first-look deal with Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield’s The Combine back in May 2012.
Johnson is represented by Ziffren Brittenham.
